INSTITUTE OF PUBLIC & INTERNATIONAL LAW
Since its creation in 1943 the Institute focuses its research and activities on the rights of citizens and individuals and since the 1950's on the impact of the European Convention on Human Rights (ECHR) and other relevant instruments notably in the context of activities such as: consulting, training, and research.
The Institute was founded by two professors of public and international law, professor Halvar Sundberg, and associate professor Stig Jägerskiöld and began its activities in 1943. The organisation was set up under private law was not unimportant for a scientific institute with the task of critically reviewing government activities.
This year the Nordic Moot Court Competition on Human Rights took place in Iceland on 4–7 June with 11 teams from 11 Nordic universities led by well_known advocates and the participation of Nordic supreme court judges and the Nordic judges from the European Court of Human Rights. The final was held at Hæstiréttur Íslands (the Supreme Court of Iceland).
